Korea has been one of those countries in Asia that I’ve always wanted to visit for many reasons. If it weren’t for traveling to Japan this year, South-Korea would have probably been the next destination.
So in the hopes of inspiring others to one day visit South-Korea, I’ve highlighted some of the reasons I want to go.
#1 Culture
The main thing that usually attracts me to visit a foreign country is their culture. I always enjoy exploring cultures that are different than the ones I’m used to. That’s why South-Korea looks like a wonderful place to visit. From what I’ve read showing respect to others is a big thing in South-Korea, which is something that I admire from Asian countries.
What’s also attractive about South-Korea is how innovation is king. Living in a country that constantly tries to do new things speaks for how creative they must be as a country.
#2 Korean Food
I’ve had Korean-BBQ twice here in Amsterdam and both times it was amazing. But I believe that if you want to try something in its best form you should go to the place where it’s from. And that’s why I would love to try everything the Korean cuisine has to offer in their own country!

#3 Sights
From all the countries in Asia, South-Korean is my favorite. Cities like Busan and Seoul are filled with awesome houses, buildings and temples that I hope to see one day.
And most importantly, visiting a building that allows me to see the entire city from a nice view is always a must-do to me. That’s why visiting the Seoul tower at night is definitely on my to-do list!

Korea is awesome! The food is definitely the best part. Be sure to visit the palaces and hanok villages.

I had an opportunity to go to Seoul about 15 years ago and it was a delight. The people are so respectful of each other and the children are allowed great freedom because they are so well behaved. I cannot say I enjoyed the food, but the sights were great. I stayed in the financial district and there was a Buddhist temple across the street. I went almost every day. You climb this big hill, hear lots of chanting and percussion, and see prayer cloths hanging from lines run between trees blowing in the wind. The palaces are great and there was a village I went to but don’t remember the name. It was outside the city and it showed a history of housing in Korea. There was a huge underground shopping district under my hotel which was fun to explore. Definitely go. It was one of the best trips I have ever taken.

I lived in South Korea as an ESL Teacher so I know a TON about life in SOKO. First, I think it’s really neat that you have so much interest to go there. Why not make some plans and go because there is so much that Korea can offer you. I recommend basing yourself in Seoul for at least a week and visiting Insadong, Gyeongbukgong Palace, Hongik, Sinchon. South Korea is very user friendly and safe. I was just in Korea two months ago for a short revisit and fell in love all over again with the country.
